Frankfurt am Main is the venue of the consumer goods fairs “Ambiente” and “Tendence", which focus on ceramics, china, glassware, arts and crafts, jewelry, household goods and home accessories. Frankfurt also hosts a number of major specialized fairs such as the International Motor Show (IAA) - Passenger Cars/ Motorcycles and the biennial International Trade Fair Sanitation - Heating - Air Conditioning. Every autumn publishers, booksellers and authors from all over the world meet at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Cologne, too, is an important venue for fairs such as “ANUGA” (World Food Market), “photokina” (World Fair for Imaging), the International Furniture Fair, the art fair “art-cologne", and specialized fairs for home appliances, hardware, bicycles and motorcycles.

The main events in Berlin are the International Green Week Berlin (an agricultural and food exhibition), “ITB Berlin” (International Tourism Exchange) and the World of Consumer Electronics. Since 1992, after a break of 60 years, the “ILA - International Aerospace Exhibition” has been held in Berlin.
