Deutsche Postbank AG : Germany
The balance sheet total of Deutsche Postbank AG has meanwhile risen to about DM 100 billion. Its recently instituted credit services, which include building financing and Postbank private loans, have boosted the assets side of the balance sheet. Postbank now also offers a drawing credit at customary market rates as well as time deposits and has expanded its portfolio to include stock funds and bond funds.
With over 20 million savings accounts, deposits totaling about DM 60 billion and sight deposits of about DM26 billion, Deutsche Postbank AG is today Germany’s largest savings bank. Postbank, which manages 4.2 million giro accounts, is one of the least expensive German providers of payment transaction services. With 1.2 million Eurocheque cards, 3.5 million Post-bank cards and 312,000 Eurocards and VISA cards, it is also very successful in the area of credit card services. Deutsche Postbank AG plans to further expand its range of services to include insurance and home ownership savings plans.
