Development cooperation iss carried out through
^direct bilateral assistance from government to government;
^multilateral assistance through international organizations, principally the United Nations and its specialized agencies;
l>the European Union, whose development cooperation has been a treaty-based! commitment since the entry into force of the Maastricht Treaty;
2>support for the activities of non-governmental organizations, who have m«any years of experience with cooperative measures in the developing countries; and
X>promotion of private-sector cooperation.
