Foreign Policy : Germany
As one of the largest industrial and trading nations, the Federal Republic of Germany is also dependent upon a stable and well-functioning world economic system that is committed to free trade. Germany’s main aim is to establish a fair balance of interests between North and South, between the industrial and the developing countries, on the basis of a dialogue marked by the spirit of partnership. Only if nations act together will it be possible to master the great global challenges facing humankind: population growth, poverty, human rights and environmental protection. Germany pursues these aims chiefly within the United Nations and its sub-organizations.
Currently, the Federal Republic of Germany maintains diplomatic relations with nearly all of the countries of the world. It has more than 230 embassies and consular posts as well as twelve missions at international organizations.
