No resting on laurels : Technology in Salzburg
Salzburg’s excellent economic figures and the advantageous geographical site must be fully exploited by an aggressive policy as regards technology. Salzburg’s politicians, representatives of industry and employees all agree that every possible step must be undertaken to create the appropriate conditions for high-tech enterprises and to offer international companies incentives for developing high-tech products in Salzburg.
In Salzburg it is obvious that more action is needed than for politicians merely to hold speeches. Great efforts are made to attract companies to the area, there are technology and innovation consultancies, relevant university courses and specialised shorter-term courses, subsidies for investments; there is the Salzburg Techno-Z, the largest concentration of high technology enterprises in Austria, where resources are amalgamated, and direct grants are awarded to particularly innovative enterprises.
