The Lower Austrian Wine-Growing Areas

Filed under:

Vineyards are most prevalent in the area between Mödling and Bad Vöslau. Thanks to the formative influence of the Pannonian climate, exceptional and rare white wine varieties like Zierfandler and Rotgipfler thrive here, along with red wines of excellent quality.

Area Wines: Around Gumpoldskirchen and Baden, Zierfandler and Rotgipfler develop into spicy, full-bodied, elegant white wines. Zweigelt, Blauer Portugieser, and St. Laurent red wines are made from the gravelly soils around Tattendorf, Bad Vöslau und Sooss.
